Tasty Tuesday: Hearty Tuna Noodle Casserole

Welcome to the first edition of Tasty Tuesday!
I am so excited about this post! You have no idea! I am a Mom-in-training. One of my goals this year is to have an arsenal of recipes under my belt, so to speak. Each week, I will share a recipe that I have cooked and probably tweaked a little.

This week's recipe is a comfort food favorite of mine.

Hearty Tuna Noodle Casserole
2 cups egg noodles
1 can of tuna
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
About 1/2 cup milk
3 green onions, chopped
1 cup frozen peas, slightly thawed
1/2 cheddar cheese, shredded
1 tsp dill
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Potato chips to crumble on top

Most of the ingredients; I couldn't fit them all on the counter.

I set a pot of water to boil, then added the noodles.

I opened the can of tuna and drained it. Next, I flaked the tuna from the can into a bowl. I chopped the green onions and added them to the tuna.

Green onions are always so pretty in pictures! They are my favorite photogenic food!

I also opened the can of mushroom soup, emptying it into a 2 quart casserole dish. I filled the empty can about half full with milk, then mixed that with the soup. To that, I added 1 tsp of dill and 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce. (You can adjust the amounts to suit your tastes.)

When the noodles were done to my liking, I drained them and set aside until I needed them. To the soup mixture, I added the tuna, green onions, 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 1 cup of frozen peas which I thawed slightly in the microwave. After everything was mixed well, I stirred in the noodles a little at a time until everything was combined.

Doesn't it just look beautiful?

I then crumbled a handful of potato chips on top to add some crunch.

Bake at 350° until it begins to bubble around the edges, about 30 minutes.

I like how this picture turned out.

Here is the finished look.

 Fresh out of the oven.

Plated and ready to be eaten.

The overall reaction was good. One person didn't like the amount of dill in it, and I couldn't taste the cheese at all. Things I would do next time: either not add the cheese or increase the amount, add peas and carrots for more color.

Enjoy!

Yum! Looks delicious! I LOVE recipes with dill! I bet it'd be good with chopped cooked spinach or green beans in it and wheat noodles too! Or motzerella instead of cheddar. You're making me hungry sista!
